Summer 2022

238 F abric R estrictions Swatch Presentations Our fabric swatches feature the sewn diagonal pin ticket label, attached in the lower left corner. Here’s the simplest way to present our swatches: 8” x 12” swatches - The pattern is oriented the way it will run on the furniture. 8” x 12” swatches are always right side up the way they hang in the racks. Deluxe swatches - Check the description of the cov- er on the swatch label. If it is a railroad cover, unclip the hanger, unfold the swatch, and turn the swatch so that the label is in the bottom right corner. This will work no matter what kind of railroad pattern is involved. The fabric is now right side up, the way we will apply it. If the cover is described as a conventional cover, un- clip the hanger, unfold the swatch, and you are done. You’ll now find the swatch label in the bottom left corner. This will work no matter what kind of conven- tional pattern is involved. Fabrics Not Recommended We allow centered and matched patterns to be ordered without question on every style but we do advise some caution. We may not be able to make a perfect match on some styles due to the pattern or repeat of the fabric in the areas of tufting, buttons, curved seams, or the contour of a back. Please be sure your customer understands about fabrics that are not recommended so there are no disappointments. These images show how matched patterns may look when applied on a style with curves and seams. Railroad Fabrics “Railroad” on a diagonal pin ticket label means the design of the pattern runs vertically across the roll from selvage to selvage. When viewing the mate- rial from the selvage edge, any figures will appear upright. Railroad stripes run across the roll. For this reason, railroad fabrics are not recommended for use in making draperies. Conventional Fabrics “Conventional” on a diagonal pin ticket label means the design of the pattern runs horizontally the length of the roll parallel to the selvages. When viewing the material from the selvage edge, any figures will appear sideways. Conventional stripes run the length of the roll. For this reason, conventional fabrics are recommended for use in making draperies. Vinyl & Bonded Leather Just like in leather, seat cushions on styles ordered in vinyl and bonded leather are not revers- ible. The special bottom fabric covering allows cush- ions to breathe. A fastener tape, similar to Velcro ® , is sewn on the bottom of each leather, vinyl and bond- ed leather cushion.
