Leave your car behind and explore the wine tasting venues in Carmel-by-the- Sea on foot, using the Carmel Wine Walk app available for download at CarmelCalifornia.com/WineWalk. Or book the Carmel Food Walking Tour to experience a taste of Carmel, including its secret passageways and courtyards. Taste Sun-Kissed Carmel Valley! Head to Carmel Valley for an afternoon of wine tasting and sun- shine. If you prefer to set your own pace, rent a touring car or van to travel from tasting room to tasting room, driving past vineyards, rolling hills, and open spaces along the way. End the day with a cozy fire at Bernardus Lodge, The Quail Lodge, or Carmel Valley Ranch—take your pick! Pack a Gourmet Picnic! Visit The Cheese Shop, Nielsen Bros Market, Bruno’s Market, or 5th Avenue Deli for gourmet cheeses, charcuterie, bread, wine, and other picnic supplies. Let your budget be your guide. With food in hand, head down to Carmel Beach for a leisurely lunch or a sunset picnic. Big Sur Scenic Journey! Start your drive down the coast with snacks from Carmel Highlands General Store. The 45-minute drive to Big Sur can last all day as you delight in the views (and the cuisine!) at stops along the way. Be sure to dip your toes in the river at Big Sur River Inn and end your day with a sunset dinner and ocean view at Pacific’s Edge. Epicurean Escapade!
