Why is it that the private club would rather close its gates to spectators than disclose its member- ship list and its racial demographics since open- ing in August 1928.Who are the 250 members? The club won’t say. The “Members Only” and “No Trespassing” signs are certainly uninviting. Comedian Bob Hope once joked, perhaps within earshot of his movie partner and Cypress Point member Bing Crosby that the club held a membership drive and “they drove off 20 members.”
