SHORT CUTS CARMEL CONFIDENTIAL Porsche at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca A lvarado Street Brewery won three medals at the 2025 World Beer Cup. The brewery, which has Carmel, Monterey and Salinas locations, took gold in the American-style sour ale category with Howzit Punch, and silver in among hazy/juicy DIPAs for Contains No Juice. Alvarado Street also earned bronze in the American strong pale ale category for its Gold Label Mai Tai P.A. Gold Label is a double dry hopped version of the flagship pale ale that has earned ½ve medals at the annual Great American Beer Festival. This year’s World Beer Cup, held in Indianapolis, included entries from 1,761 breweries across 49 countries. As part of the sponsorship, Porsche will support Friends of Laguna Seca in its efforts to revitalize the raceway and neighboring recreation area. The partnership will also bring a Porsche Driving Center to Laguna Seca in 2026. At the center, novice drivers will be invited to choose from various intro- ductory courses while more experienced participants can register for intermediate and advanced training sessions. Porsche has hosted four Rennsport Reunions at Laguna Seca in the past 15 years. The event is billed as the world’s largest ticketed gathering of Porsche enthusiasts. “Many of the greatest moments in motor- sport history have happened at Laguna Seca,” said Timo Resch, president and CEO of Porsche Cars North America. “We are excited to be a part in the track’s exciting plans for the future and to allow the next generation of enthusiasts to get behind the wheel of a Porsche.” Sorasea Hospitality has acquired Mirabel Hotel & Restaurant Group’s Carmel properties, including L’Auberge Carmel, Aubergine Restaurant and Carmel Beach Hotel. Aubergine Chef Justin Cogley and Monterey-area native Janet Elarmo are behind the new hospitality group. Chef Cogley and Elarmo, existing ownership partners who were already involved in day-to- day operations, bring more than 50 years of combined hotel and restaurant experience to Sorasea Hospitality. They stepped into their expanded roles in late June, as Mirabel Hotel & Restaurant Group CEO David Fink announced his retirement. “I’ve always been inspired by change and strive to showcase something new for our guests each time they visit,” Chef Cogley said. “It is with this same sense of inspiration, excitement and creativity that Janet and I move forward with Sorasea and our expanded roles at these celebrated boutique hotels and restau- rants.
