Spring 2024

Patty Wilson has opened a second location of her popular women’s clothing store, SHE, in the beautiful and historic La Rambla Building in downtown Carmel. Photo: Kelli Uldall P atty Wilson always knew she would create her own business; but she chose to wait until her three daughters grew up, then went through her list of ideas: restaurant owner, women’s clothing store, shoe store and bakery. “People told me restaurants are the number one business to fail, and women’s clothing are number two, so I said, ‘Okay, I’ll go for number two,’” she recalls. Wilson dove all in to create SHE, her wom- en’s boutique in the Carmel Crossroads. That was 24 years ago, and her business is still thriv- ing and still in the same space. Last summer, she opened a second location in downtown Carmel on Lincoln Street in the historic La Rambla Building. 3n her first FuyinK trip to 2ew =ork ;ilson was most charmed by the quality and time- lessness of Italian designer goods. “They have impeccable workmanship with an interesting twist, and they don’t go out of style,” she says. Today, her stores are comprised of about half American and half European designers, and the handbags, belts, jewelry, shoes, dresses, coats, pants, sweaters, t-shirts and more are a pleasure to peruse. Wilson keeps her inventory fresh and evolving. “I am interested in what people want,” she says. SHE is located at 110 Crossroads Blvd. in Carmel and on Lincoln, 2 SW of Ocean in Carmel- by-the-Sea. 831/626-4686 or 831/250-5898.
