Sheid Family Wines Director of Hospitality and Events Stefani Chaney donates her personal time to pour donated Sheid wines in support of local nonprofits. W hen a local nonprofit has a fundrais- er, the focus is often on the profit from the ticket sales and money raised from auction items. What is often overlooked is the cost of putting on the event, including providing wine. Stefani Chaney, director of hospitality and events at Scheid Family Wines, donates her own personal time to pour wine for many local fundraisers, while Scheid donates the wine. “It feels so great to help nonprofits keep the revenue from the event,” Chaney says mod- estly. “I feel empowered to be at a company that supports the community so much and I am honored to be the face of the brand.” The family-owned winery has a popular tasting room in downtown Carmel, and all the grapes are grown in Monterey County. “We have complete control from grape to glass,” Chaney says. The in-kind donations to support local non- profits include fundraisers for Rancho Cielo, which offers vocational training and educa- tion to at-risk youth, and the Breast Cancer Assistance Group of Monterey County, which helps with rent, daycare, groceries and gas for women fighting breast cancer. Scheid donates around 500 cases of wine a year to events. “I am so grateful to the community and so grateful to Scheid,” Chaney says.
