Festivities take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Five years in, the boutique shop has built a loyal customer base by offering leashes, toys, treats, beds, bowls, collars and gifts. Clothing and accessories range from high-end dog coats by the British label Barbour to locally made harnesses and bandanas from Wag Pet Gear. Montgomery commissioned Carmel-by-the- Sea-branded dog merchandise after several customer requests, and visiting pups enjoy snacks from an extensive treat bar. In fact, passing dogs frequently detour their people into the shop. “A lot of our locals come in at the same time. They’ve gotten to know each other, and the dogs know each other, so it’s like a fun little dog party,” Montgomery says. “This is not just a dog shop. It’s an experience.” For more information, call 831/574-8169 or visit www.carmeldogshop.com.
