Christmas the morning after I’ve painted some- thing, especially if I haven’t overworked it.” Utilizing an impressionist style with abstract flavors creates a sense of movement, elusive feelings begging for contemplation, and a bit of wild beauty in each one of her works. “There has to be some drama in the sky, something that talks to me,” she explains.“I wait until something captures me and then that ‘wow’ of an emotional connection comes through the painting.” Decades of cutting hair taught Price about composition and color; being in nature is her inspiration. At times she paints on location, and other times she uses photographs or her imagination to create works from memory in her studio, perhaps editing the details to suit the composition. “Sometimes the tree looks better some- where else in the scene,” she points out. Price’s talents have garnered numerous awards, and she participates in art competitions like the Carmel Art Festival, Sedona Plein Air Festival, Plein Air Glacier, Pacific Northwest Plein Air, and Yosemite Renaissance. “I am honored to be inspired by mother nature,” she says.
