Alexander and husband Chip Moreland, also an accomplished musician, relocated to the Carmel Highlands from Los Angeles with their twin daughters in 2020. The Monterey Peninsula has served as muse to artists of all kinds, and this thoughtful writer has joined those ranks, fully embracing the area’s creative inspiration. Alexander’s career as a recording and performing artist has been a worldwide adventure from the U.S. to Europe, Ireland, the Pacific Rim and faraway islands such as Barbados and Guantanamo Bay. She has shared stages with notable acts, including America, Joe Bonamassa, John Hiatt and, most recently, touring with actor Kevin Bacon and his brother Michael in their band the Bacon Brothers, with whom she has toured since her first release in 1999. Over the years, she has amassed an impressive catalog of original music, which can be heard onTV shows such as “SoYouThinkYou Can Dance” and “Party of Five,” and in movies, including “The Giving Tree” and “Sugar and Spice.” Her current release, the critically acclaimed “Messy,” includes the ethereal “House Without Windows,” which Alexander calls “a love song to Mother Nature.”“The majesty of the Carmel area brings me to my knees,” she says.“I feel so humbled by nature and the coast.” She has just released a video for this song set to images by Carmel’s own renowned photographer, Bob Kolbrener.
