SHORT CUTS CARMEL CONFIDENTIAL Record Funds Raised at 2023 Concours d’Elegance H ospice Giving Foundation awarded a $139,000 grant to Partnership for Children (PFC), a Salinas-based nonprofit that supports the families of children facing life-threatening con- ditions. PFC will use the funds to provide its clients with medical transportation, gas assistance, financial help for groceries and basic living expenses, and other support. Since 2007, PFC has served children and families across Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito counties. This year’s Pebble Beach competition drew 216 cars from 18 countries and 30 states. Gooding & Company hosted its 19th sale in conjunction with Concours events, grossing more than $92 million in sales while presenting its largest catalog to date. The weekend’s top lot, an unrestored 1962 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta, sold for $9,465,000. The 2023 Pebble Beach Concours raised QSVI XLER QMPPMSR XLEX [MPP FIRI½X WSQI 90 local charitable organizations. Since it was established in 1950, the event has raised over QMPPMSR JSV RSRTVS½XW The Monterey Regional Airport earned a $750,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Small Community Air Service Development Program in October. The money will be used to expand service, with the goal of securing nonstop Chicago connections. “Air service development and attraction is highly competitive. Using these grant proceeds as a minimum revenue guarantee will help posi- tion Monterey Regional Airport and our partner agencies at See Monterey and Visit Carmel in a very positive light as we continue our discus- sions with airlines,” said Michael La Pier, execu- tive director of the Monterey Regional Airport. The grant comes weeks after the airport recorded two other federal awards announced by U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta. Those grants included $22 million in Federal Aviation Administration Airport Improvement Program funding to support airport tarmac improve- ments, and $3 million for passenger terminal design through the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. “By investing in our Monterey Regional Airport, we are investing in the economy and communities of California’s 19th Congressional District,” said Rep. Panetta. “Due to the historic legislation that we passed in Congress, we’re ensuring that the Monterey Regional Airport receives the necessary funding to continue providing its stellar services for travelers and businesses.
