Over the summer, MPC named Dr. Marshall T. Fulbright III its new leader, only the 12th superintendent/president in the institution’s 75-year history. SHORT CUTS EDUCATION T his past summer, Dr. Marshall T. Fulbright III was named the 12th superintendent/ president of Monterey Peninsula College. He brings a thoughtful, caring approach to this beloved 75-year-old institution. “I’m a humanist, he says. “I believe in people and the transformative power of individuals. That drives both my personal life and my posi- tion of leadership at MPC.” Dr. Fulbright comes to MPC with an impres- sive CV, including his most recent position, vice president of academic affairs at Grossmont College in El Cajon, California. He began his career as a high school music teacher, moving on to college-level orchestral conducting. He brings a clear vision to his leadership. “I want MPC to be well integrated into the community,” he says. “We want to be good stewards of their trust and support and to be WIIR EW XLI ½VWX GLSMGI 14' WLSYPH FI [LIVI everyone goes because it’s the natural choice.” A native of Pasadena, California, Dr. Fulbright visited Carmel as a young man, accompanying his father on golf outings. “I love the beauty of this area.
