Family-Owned Jewelr y Store Carr ies on Timeless Traditions B Y R ENE E B R I NCK S S hoppers who step into Marchesa Jewelry in Pebble Beach might fall for an exquisite diamond, a beautifully set pearl or elegant home décor by luxury brands like Lalique and Herend. Or, they might be dazzled by a simple, sparkling crystal bowl. “Yes, we have the very high-end, but we also have very approachable pieces and price points. Buying jewelry and gifts should be fun,” says Melissa Davis-Rozsa, who co-owns Marchesa with her sister, Connie Teal. “Mom really taught us to work with people, make them happy, and make them feel at home.” Teal and the siblings’ late mother, Louise O’Kief-Trout, opened Marchesa in 1985. Today, staff members here still wrap each purchase by hand, and they’ve welcomed many of the same families for generations. “One of the best, most beautiful parts of our experience is that we’re now getting not only the children, but also the grandchildren of our first clients,” Davis-Rozsa says. As she and her sister look toward the store’s 40th anniversary, they’re especially grateful for the lasting relationships built with each in-store conversation. “Jewelry is about the heart,” Davis-Rozsa says. “We wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t for the clients. To them, I say thank you for trusting us and thank you for always coming back.” For more information, call 831/625-3129 or visit www.marchesajewelry.com SHORT CUTS BUSINESS Sisters Connie Teal and Melissa Davis-Rozsa are proud of the relationships forged with generations of clients at Marchesa Jewelry, founded by Teal and their late mother in 1985. 74 C A R M E L M A G A Z I N E • W I N T E R 2 0 2 3 Photo: Kelli Uldall
