Winter 2025

S et along the stunning coast of Santa Barbara in the exclusive neigh- borhood of Montecito, Rosewood Miramar Beach presents an indulgent experience on an intimate scale. Director of Communications Emilie Plouchart describes the property as having an approachable, resi- dential feel to it while also being remarkably luxurious, like staying at a pri- vate estate. “‘Montecito State of Mind’ captures the effortless elegance and relaxed sophistication of life along California’s American Riviera,” Plouchart explains. “It’s the feeling of ocean breezes, golden light on palm trees, and moments that balance luxury with ease. At Rosewood Miramar Beach, this lifestyle is brought to life through our resort experiences, from sunrise wellness on the lawn to evenings of culinary indulgence, strolls through designer boutiques and barefoot walks on the sand. It is a state of being that reflects the heart of Montecito: coastal, connected and timelessly chic.” The resort has 119 rooms and 34 suites, which include Bungalows, Beach House accommodations and luxurious Manor House Suites. Each one is decorated in an upscale beach cottage style, with inspired décor and com- fortable places to relax. “The property has a rich history that dates back to its original owners, the Doultons, who purchased the 20-acre oceanfront property in Montecito in 1876,” Plouchart says. “The hotel, originally called Ocean View Farm, was expanded in 1889 and eventually became known as Miramar Hotel.” After struggling through the Great Depression, the hotel was sold in 1939 and abandoned and left to rot for decades, changing hands several times.
