120 C A R M E L M A G A Z I N E • F A L L 2 0 2 2 The Pointe of Art Annual Ar ts Auction Suppor ts Up-and-Coming Young Performers B Y R ENE E B R I NCK S T his summer, young dancers auditioned for the 2022 Monterey Peninsula Ballet Theatre (MPBT) presentation of “The Nutcracker.” Before their show opens to the public in December, participants will share a special Friday morning performance with hundreds of Monterey County students who might not otherwise have a chance to attend. In addition to watching the story on stage, audience members will hear how set designers, lighting technicians, theater managers and other professionals collaborate to make each performance happen.
