The Monterey Peninsula school, which serves approximately 185 students living with dyslexia and associated learning differences, will use a portion of the funds to expand its California-wide Chartwell Teacher Training Institute. Additional money will support plan- ning for a new high school and other facilities on the school’s 60-acre Seaside campus. The gift will also establish the Charles E. and Claire R. Jacobson Memorial Endowment Fund, increasing the distribution of need- based grants and scholarships to students and their families. Chartwell provided $1.2 million in financial aid assistance for the 2022-23 school year.
