The client wanted to replace that original collection. Instead, Singer encouraged him to rebuild with both the father’s pieces and posters that reflected his own interests. “The one piece of advice I give to everyone is to buy what you love. If it resonates with you, it doesn't matter if it's valuable or not. Maybe you went there as a kid, or you remember this particu- lar car.Whatever the reason may be, it has to please you,” he says. That’s the same attitude Singer takes toward his own projects, from col- lecting to capturing and publishing automotive images. Last year, he snapped a photo of a sky blue 1964 Porsche 356 C Coupe—a car he owned at the time—parked against the stone that lines Saddle Road in CarmelValley.The image was named the Porsche Club of America’s Photo of the Month in December. “That's my favorite place to photograph cars. I was thrilled that they decided to publish it, and knocked out when it was chosen as photo of the month,” Singer says. After four decades in the business, his passion for all things automo- tive—especially Porsche cars, posters and rare collectibles— continues to be a driving force. “It started as a hobby. His first posters came from friendly sales people at his local Porsche dealership. While he traces an early interest in cars to his father, Singer’s introduction to various Porsche models sparked his true passion.
