Formerly executive director of the Center for Photographic Art, he was also a professor of photography for more than 35 years at San Jose State University, where he was chair of the Department of Art and Art History. “ImageMakers was originally formed by a group of photographers who felt a need for camaraderie and month- ly meetings to inspire people to continue their photographic journeys and share them with like-minded people,” he says. So, what does a pro like Taylor glean from the meetings? “I get an opportunity to show new work to a group that I respect and that has a genuine willingness to give productive feedback.” Even on evenings when members don’t show work, “We still benefit from a warmth among kin- dred spirits and being among others who share our enthusiasm and pas- sion for displaying our creativity through the medium of photography,” says Taylor. “Monterey and Carmel are the birthplaces of the West Coast photography movement as founded by Ansel Adams and Edward Weston.” Chuck Davis, “Sleeping White Tipped Sharks” Mary Aiu, “Marwari Stallion Among the Trees”
