Winter-2022
PalisadesTahoe. We have two base areas,TheVillage at PalisadesTahoe and Alpine Lodge. On mountain, we refer to the sides as Palisades and Alpine.” Just minutes away from Palisades Tahoe is the Resort at Squaw Creek. According to Ashlee Barton, area director of sales and marketing at Resort at Squaw Creek, the property opened in 1992 with the intention of building a resort des- tination to share the love of the valley and meadows of North Lake Tahoe and to show- case the incredible outside elements of the area as a focal point of the property. Upon entering the hotel lobby, one’s gaze is drawn to huge windows which frame stunning mountain and meadow scenery. Boulders from the nearby meadow and creek are incorporated into the soothing lobby décor. There are also multiple venues for meetings and events on the property with the dramatic backdrop of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Visitors can either stay on the property as a hotel guest or pur- chase one of the units as a private residence. According to Barton, the resort is an ideal destination for a getaway any time of year. In 1960, the valley hosted the Winter Olympic Games, and Walt Disney acted as chairman of pageantry for the events. 194 C A R M E L M A G A Z I N E • W I N T E R 2 0 2 2 (Above) Spectacular skiing at Palisades Tahoe with a view of the lake has drawn visitors for decades.
