Chapman is eager to share her DIY (do-it-yourself) expertise with the pub- lic and makes even the most nervous would-be artist feel comfortable. At parties and workshops, Chapman and her staff guide guests through their choice of over 700 projects which can be personalized—from porch signs to trays to clocks to coat racks and much more. “They make great gifts,” she says. “We do workshops with special projects like cornhole boards, porch planters and doormats.” The process brings joy to Chapman. “Usually, I watch guests go from being pretty nervous and feeling like they aren’t ‘artsy’ to watching their face light up when they see that they made something special,” she says. With over 270 franchises nationwide, Chapman is updated with new projects by the company, many holiday themed, to share with her customers. Guests can purchase wine by the glass and private parties can bring in finger foods. For kids (this location is for ages 21 and up), kits with pre-stained and pre-sanded designs offer creative activities to do with their caregivers at home. “I love helping people get together and make art and have fun,” Chapman says. Board and Brush is located at 458 Alvarado Street in Monterey. For more information, please visit www.boardandbrush.com/monterey or call 831/884-6108.
